I came to get the link to share with a family member and to see 4.9 stars from 250 reviews, hell yeah! Ever since Darlene (I only went once because I live far so I pray I'm remembering her name correctly. Brown sugar babe with red hair!) did my hair, my hair is finally more manageable. I have thick hair that I simply don't understand plus don't have the time, focus, skill, or desire to give it all it needs. I have three kids, oldest is 5, and ever since coming to this salon and paying attention to their technique and advice, plus receiving their beyond excellent service, I can wash and style (no extravagant style of course) my hair in less than 3 hours. I have hair as thick as bushes in the Amazon (shoulder length) and have distinct memories of my mother just looking at the end of her rope and exasperated when I told her I already combed my hair myself as a child so she wouldn't have to, sharing as a reference. Coming here just once changed my hair experience. Every star deserved. I miss this place 🥹 I just can't get the same day plane tickets I need to get here, that is the only thing stopping me from being here. I just want to speak on the price after reading other reviews. If you have thick coarse hair, you may even have a mother that has no clue what to do with your hair. She birthed you with the hair and has no clue what to do with it. Your whole family of women may have no idea what to do to give you the results you want. I'm not trying to shame anyone but being realistic. Having a knowledgeable and skilled source to get tangible advice and results is not a built in feature in the curly hair community. Then forget about your intimate circle, if you throw a rock to choose the salon to do your hair you are never guaranteed to find someone who knows how to make your hair flourish, let alone a stylist who sanitizes their styling tools! If what I Am Nubian provided was standard care and everybody was doing it, the price would reflect that. If women with kinky, coily, curly hair had the sisterhood where any woman you lay eyes on that has the same or similar hair to you, had the skill and knowledge to give you the results you want, the price would reflect that. The price reflects the reality of what they offer and the society we live in. It's expensive, yes. But it's not robbery. Tell me where there's another salon like this one, in Western NY if you find it I've been looking. They are few and far between. Also, don't dare be out here paying for those Canal St bags just because they came from the outlet instead (as the manufacturers said during the height of tariff time) but thinking these women don't deserve the money!

The first pic is from January 2025 and the second is from today. All the stylists are skilled, knowledgeable, and really nice! I don’t always get a silk press but when I do I make sure it’s by Kanya 😌. I’ve been visiting for about 2 years and this is probably my 5th silk press and my hair has never been healthier. I’ve never had any damage or burns and the curls bounce back the next wash day even better than the last. I highly recommend any of their services and products 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 Edit: You’ll probably see my other review from when my hair was fully dyed!
